Cathprint was established in 2006 by Bengt Källbäck. The company’s technology is based upon his innovations, as well as on research carried out at Karolinska Institutet and KTH. The business concept is to offer cost-effective technology to produce thin, strong, advanced catheters and endoscopes for various diagnostic and treatment purposes.

When Cathprint needed help moving ahead in the manufacturing process, they commissioned Svekon to design a machine for the manufacture of these catheters. The production of the catheters is based on flexible circuit boards with conductor patterns, which are formed into a tube and filled with adhesive.

“We had developed the technology at the laboratory stage, but lacked the skills to realise the idea and develop our prototype further. We needed a machine that could manufacture our products in a rational and controlled manner.”
